Moorditj Koort was proud to host a meaningful Sorry Day event in Kwinana, bringing community together for a powerful day of reflection, healing, connection and honouring the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, Elders and families.
The event opened with a heartfelt Welcome to Country delivered by respected local Elder Pop Mick Indich, setting the tone for a day centred on truth-telling, respect and community healing. Local Elders from the Kwinana community also shared moving stories, wisdom and reflections, acknowledging the ongoing impacts of the Stolen Generations while guiding future generations with strength and cultural knowledge.
Attendees were treated to inspiring performances from talented local young students, alongside a powerful didgeridoo performance by Tim Kelly Snr, showcasing culture, pride and the importance of keeping traditions strong within community.
Moorditj Koort also extends sincere thanks to Yorgum and Palmerston for attending the event with information stalls and providing valuable support and resources to community members throughout the day.
The event created a safe and respectful space for people to come together, reflect, learn and stand in solidarity with Stolen Generations survivors and their families.
Moorditj Koort thanks everyone who attended, contributed and shared feedback, helping make the event a meaningful and memorable occasion for the Kwinana community.
