Indigenous Australians’ Health Programme (IAHP) Yarnes Evaluation Team Sarina and Robert hosted a Community Yarning session at the Medina Aboriginal Cultural Centre (MACC) on Thursday 1st September. The session was arranged with the intention of gathering feedback from local Aboriginal community members around accessing mainstream services .

It was a great turn out with 17 Community members attending the yarning session. All participants contributed to the discussion sharing their experiences with mainstream service providers in the health sector.

Overall it was good to hear the feedback from our community, as it gives Aboriginal service providers a better understanding of the barriers our people face in their everyday lives. We hope that this can kickstart a change to provide improved services for our community to provide the best possible care and make changes to the way we provide services to our community in the future.
